My first blog entry! Thanks, Janie, for getting this started. It will be a great way of keeping in touch. (This was typed on December 18 and we have just now signed on to hagen family blog.)
Thanks to Ardy, I have a new holiday tradition. I'm now baking biscotti! I call them "Ardy's Rusks!". Not only are they delicious but they bring back good memories of our first cousin reunion.
Marilyn makes so many of the old Norwegian recipes and I'm hoping that when Alissa moves closer to Michigan, I can get a few cooking lessons when she visits Alissa. I need to learn how to make lefse. We pretend we are eating lefse when we order fresh tortillas but they look at you funny when you ask for butter and sugar!
John and I leave for SC on December 23. We will drive to Kiawah Island and spend the week with Aric and his family. I may take back some of the sand dollars that we have collected over the years. I wonder how many people bring shells back to the beach. I'll have to spread then out when no one is looking!
We wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! My cards will be sent out sometime in the new year!

Gayle, I am delighted you made it in and I hope we see pictures of the kids and grandkids here so every one can see them at once! Also I think a picture of your Mom would be wonderful! I wish I could go with and walk behind you and pick up the shells! Ha! That area must be so beautiful and meditative.
You made me hungry so I will have to drag out my biscotti recipes as well but they just are so good, one just has to have a pot of coffee and eat them all! HA! I need to get on the stick and send Ardy another invite...or email...we need pictures of him and his wife and Franks family and Eva as well. Thanks for joining the group! This will be fun.
Gayle - nice to hear from you!
One thing that would be nice to do on this site would be to post some 'tributes' to departed family members. For example, some pictures of your dad along with some dialog about his life would would be nice to read. I really like the picture of him by the silver airplane. I think Jane, Gloria, or Marlene has one of our dad too - probably taken at the same time.
