December information in January

My first blog entry! Thanks, Janie, for getting this started. It will be a great way of keeping in touch. (This was typed on December 18 and we have just now signed on to hagen family blog.)

Thanks to Ardy, I have a new holiday tradition. I'm now baking biscotti! I call them "Ardy's Rusks!". Not only are they delicious but they bring back good memories of our first cousin reunion.

Marilyn makes so many of the old Norwegian recipes and I'm hoping that when Alissa moves closer to Michigan, I can get a few cooking lessons when she visits Alissa. I need to learn how to make lefse. We pretend we are eating lefse when we order fresh tortillas but they look at you funny when you ask for butter and sugar!

John and I leave for SC on December 23. We will drive to Kiawah Island and spend the week with Aric and his family. I may take back some of the sand dollars that we have collected over the years. I wonder how many people bring shells back to the beach. I'll have to spread then out when no one is looking!

We wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! My cards will be sent out sometime in the new year!

Hello!

Hi everyone! I am Kim, Gloria's daughter. I live near Austin Texas. This is great that Janie has gotten this set up. I will try and post some pictures later. I am married to Steve Midgett and we have a small CPA firm in Austin. We have three children between us. Cameron is 31 and lives in Dallas with his wife Christine. Keisia is 27 and lives in Belfield, is married and has a son named Nathan. He will be four this month. Bryan is 25 and lives in Maui.

Thank you Janie for setting this up!
Kim

Days of Yore

Now here's a picture from long ago (196x) that I can relate to since Shirley and I live on Winter Wheat Circle. Although I'm afraid the title might be more closely related to Hard Red Spring Wheat. But lest you think Jane is the only one of Roy and Orpha's two youngest kids that did well in high school, I have attached a picture of my Alamo High School band pin and the bronze metal I won in Trenton, ND, for 3rd place in the broad jump. HA - so there!!

A group of cousins

Here's a group of Hagen cousins - but far short of the whole lot. I'm hoping that each of us can add to this collection such that we truly have a family album! This was taken in 2001 at the El Rancho.

Meet the Family

I am going to post a picture of my family but first let me say, I am terrible at taking pictures. I can have the whole family home and forget to do this...it just never dawns on me to take a picture!!! So this was a last minute one of the group last summer. Not the greatest but then, we usually look this way so hey...why try to impress you with something nice! HA! Our daughter Suzy is 34 and Luke is 28. The other picture is of Marlene with her husband JD. They live in Ponca City, OK and are happy as can be! Marlene has Dawn Cindy and Dean living close by and both are married, and her other son Dan lives out in Maryland.

Greetings from Utah

I'm Jane's (much) younger brother - now living in Riverton, Utah. My wife Shirley (Lohse) and I would like to wish each of you the very best in 2007. Included in the picture with us is our daughter, Dasha, who now lives in Jacksonville, Florida. And, of course, our toy poodle, Sammie.

For those of you who have experienced problems uploading pictures, etc., well - so did I. However, by installing Mozilla Firefox, it seems to work fine. I was using IE6 - but there must be some IE setting that has to be changed to get the editing tool bar, etc., to work.

We were in Boise over the Christmas holiday and stayed with Shirley's sister Marjory. While looking through her old pictures, I found this one of Shirley. I guess they would be called the 'good old days'.

Gloria - and her husband Bud - were here in August of '06. So here's a picture of them.
