Black Gold in Garnet?

Here's a site I wish my Dad could have witnessed. Today this oil drilling rig went up, for the 3rd time in Garnet Township, right south of the farm. It was first northeast of the farm where they are now putting a well. It then went northwest of the farm and rumor has it that struck also. In the 80's there were abandoned holes at all of these sites, but they are back with better technology, evidently, with success. This rig is right across the road from Oscar Johnson's farm on the Divide County border.

If it looks dry and brown, it is. It has been so cold and cloudy that nothing is wanting to grow. It has just started to green up a little in the last day or so.

So I just wanted to show you Mom's new lawn ornament (almost). It's directly out her south window so she will have a bird's eye view.

Lynn...is this on your Mom's land then or not? I surely hope we all can get some wells out of this and make our fathers proud of us...they struggled so hard on the land and to have it pay off would be wonderful. I was hoping to get back to Dakota this year but not sure it will happen...just too much going on but I miss it alot! Thanks for the pictures and updates...so nice to have you there...next best thing to being there myself!

Hi Janie! No, it is maybe 1/2 mile south of Mom's stuff. But, with horizontal drilling, who knows? I sure wish the Hagen family could be around to see the activity going on right now. If nothing else, it's interesting. It's been interesting to check out a website at https://www.dmr.nd.gov/oilgas/. Take care!

Thanks for the pictures, Lynn. I never thought that we would ever see an oil rig from our yard! Think how excited Oscar and Edith would be if they were still alive to see all the activity across the road from them! I can imagine that Melford is keeping a close eye on things now that they are back home. How exciting it is for everyone to think that there may be oil underground. Lets all pray for peace and oil!
